The Project -- Champion City

Our class selected a lower level renovation at the Park South YMCA for our project. The Park South YMCA is located two miles south of Fair Park in Dallas. The building was developed in 1972, and it currently serves 1,500 family units in the area.

The lower level of the YMCA recently flooded, and the space was not being used very often. It was out-dated and not functional for the needs of the community. We are excited to get started with our renovation, and we will post our ideas and plans very soon.

We feel this renovation will positively impact the community in the following ways:

• It will provide a safe and structured environment for people of all ages
• It will bring to life "dead space" that was otherwise not utilized for its highest and best use
• It will allow other YMCA programs to develop
• It will be an interactive and engaging haven where young children can explore, learn and develop
• It is a sustainable project for the community

What is The Real Estate Council (TREC)?

A large group of commercial real estate professionals who share a passion for shaping the future through donating our expertise, building alliances and raising funds to strengthen our community.

What is Associate Leadership Council?

The Real Estate Council's Associate Leadership Council (ALC) is a leadership development program designed to encourage 27- to 37-year-olds in the commercial real estate industry to assume leadership roles in the community. The class selects and implements a real estate-related community service project as part of this educational leadership program.
